Single and multiplayer options?
Certainly. The five races (plus a number of minor ones) will be represented in each game. Suppose you’re playing alone, the computer will then assume the role of the other four peoples. Of course, if you’re playing multiplayer, each person gets to choose what race they want to conquer the universe as.
I still think the Klingons will win…
Not if the Borg get involved they won’t…
The Borg!
The game features plenty of special entities and events. Including potential Borg invasions.
That’ll keep me on my toes.
You could get cramp if you’re playing multiplayer. The game can be played via LAN, modem head to head, on the Internet or through email, among other options, so it supports both continuous connection and turn submission modes. This means you’ll be able to play quick, one-evening games or drag them out for months.
There’ll be Klingons on the starboard bow then…
And all manner of life, but not as we know it Jim. There have been Star Trek strategy games of this ilk before – admittedly not for a while – and there are more of a similar vein in the pipeline. However, MicroProse are renowned for their ability to produce large, playable and entertaining strategy games so this could be one to look out for if you fancy a change from all that realtime or 3D strategy stuff.
*Five major races from Star Trek: The Next Generation
*And the Borg might make an appearance
*Huge game world to explore and colonise and fight over
*A swathe of single and multiplayer modes to involve yourself in
*Is there room for yet another turn-based strategy game on the PC?
