| PlayStation |
Release: June '99 |
From: Infogrames |

All 18 of the World Rally Championship’s officially licensed cars are included
When Infogrames first released V-Rally, the grid was relatively free of contenders. But with Gran Turismo, Colin McRae Rally and, shortly, Ridge Racer Type 4, the sequel is going to have to be mighty fine to make pole position…

But it isn’t Gran Turismo, is it?
Oh, Touche Turtle. Everyone says that about every racing game released on PlayStation. "It isn’t Gran Turismo, blargh de blargh…"
Sorry.
All right. Look, the point is, if nobody bothered making racing games because Gran Turismo was so good, we wouldn’t have stuff like Colin McRae and TOCA.
Colin McRae Rally. Isn’t that the definitive PlayStation rally racer?
Indeed. It’s by far the best mud, sweat ‘n’ gears racing game. You even get to take lessons from the great man, while he barks instructions.
So Colin’s not in V-Rally 2, then?
No, but his car is. Infogrames might not be able to use all the drivers' names (Tommi Makinen has his own PlayStation rally game - it’s not very good, though), but they’ve snapped up the licence to use all the right motors. In the first V-Rally, there were 11 cars, and this time around, all 18 from the current season are included. So you’ll get to drive McRae’s Ford Focus. And he keeps his gob shut.
What else is new?
The coders Eden Studios are tapping into rally’s rich history so we can expect to see some of the great cars from days of yore. Like the Ford Escort Mexico. And the, um… Mini Cooper. There’ll be 10 classic cars, anyway.
