Sports Rages

Dear Future Gamer,

I have been receiving your mag for a couple of months now and think it's great, keep up the good work. I have just finished looking through this week's edition and would like to comment on Genre Wars: Revenge (FG21). Most of what was published was right but there was one section he got wrong, big time - Sports: "The PS has a more varied selection but the three consoles are more or less equal (except the N64)". I don't think so. All of the sports games on the PS are crap. They run too slowly, the graphics are pants and in my view, it's a waste of money buying a sports game on the PS.

Now you come to the N64 - not perfect but better than the PS, look at ISS Pro '98 - it runs smoothly, is very good on four-player.

Both of these are far behind the PC though. Look at the EA Sports range. They run quite well on a mid-range computer, and on a good system PII + 3D graphics card you get the best-looking, most playable sports games. The PC wins this category hands down.

Big Stu

FG: I have to disagree with you here. There are some great sports games on the PC, and there are some great ones on the PlayStation too. Anyone for Acuta Soccer 3, Gran Turismo and a dozen others? Now let that be an end to the Genre Wars. I thank you.
