Lands of Lore III page 2 of 2
PC

Sounds simple enough, but what about us novices? I'll get hopelessly lost after 10 minutes...
No you won't. Westwood have gone to great pains to ensure the novice is well catered for, every time something new is introduced you're given a text description of its significance, and you've also got a self-writing journal that keeps track of all the quests you're doing and how to use everything you pick up or learn. There's also an automap so moving around the land of Gladstone is painless.

Fooled you. I'm an expert at this kind of game. I want something that's going to challenge me.
Cheeky. Don't worry, you're catered for. "We're giving the hardcore players the stuff they wanted, control over character development, lots of magic, lots of monsters and an epic plot," says Louis Castle, executive producer of LoL III and co-founder of Westwood Studios. And the version of the game we've played suggests that they're right - there's plenty of adventuring to be done here.

Go on, wind it up nicely for me.
The interface is nice and easy to use, the graphics are smooth and look lovely and there are six huge worlds to discover. All the characters are new, so it's very easy to jump right in without feeling you've missed out because you haven't played the earlier games in the series.

*First-person adventure role-playing made easy for the beginner...
*... with more than enough plot and character development for the expert
*Certainly a looker
*It's terribly easy to use
*Doesn't seem to offer much more than the majority of other games in this genre
