There's a lesson in life here: not every girl in her undies is looking for affection
Devotees of Westwood Studios' famed Command and Conquer series are still eagerly awaiting Tiberian Sun - Westwood's latest realtime strategy creation. In the meantime, a Lands of Lore III session could satisfy those adventurous cravings.
Andy Smith
Lands of Lore? That's an adventure game isn't it?
Certainly is, and this is the latest instalment. It's more your role-playing adventure game than your straight adventure like say, Grim Fandango.
Oh, so it's all experience points and buying weapons then?
That's the idea. Starting with nothing, the idea's to join guilds, learn magic and go on quests. Want some background?
Can I say 'No'?
Of course not. You're a 16-year-old part-Dracoid (I'll skip the ancient history for you) called Copper, and you're heir to the throne of Gladstone thanks to some supernatural beings killing your father (the brother to the King) and your brothers. Though you survived the attack, they did manage to make off with your soul.
I'm in trouble then?
Sure are. Not only have you got to close the five portals through which the evil demons are flooding through and thereby save the kingdom, you've somehow got to get your soul back. Want to know what it's like to play?
I'll just say 'Yes' shall I?
It would save us all some time. The action's viewed through the eyes of Copper so it's all first-person. The usual tricks are employed - you've got a small hand icon on-screen that is context-sensitive, ie. it turns into a fist when you can pick something up or a megaphone when you can talk to someone.
