Overestimating The Power Of PS

Dear Future Gamer,

With regards to your reply to Ed Moyse's Letter in FG21, about PS games not being able to take advantage of NGPS power - I think you're talking a load of rubbish. Surely at the very least they will run in a smoother fashion (no slow down) due to the increase in processing power, and probably at a higher resolution, as with Zelda 64 when run on the PC (UltraHLE)? And that game wasn't coded to use the power of 3dfx, but it does, very nicely.

FG: I'm not talking rubbish Howard. Games may well run slightly smoother but it's unlikely they'll run in a higher resolution. Just like the N64's Expansion Pak doesn't make every N64 game run in a higher resolution, if the game's not coded to be run in a higher resolution then it's not going to suddenly decide it can. Games don't make up their own code. As for Zelda on the PC, it's the UltraHLE that's enabling the game to run using 3dfx.
