Back in Future Gamer 21 we kicked off an irregular feature, rounding up some of our readers' reviews. Everyone's got an opinion on a game, so here's what some ordinary gamers out there think of some recent PC games.
If you've been playing a game recently and want to tell the world what you think of it, drop an email to Andy Smith for more details. You could see yourself published!
Outwars (PC)
A highly underrated game, Outwars is a real epic at heart. It's set in the future, where you feature as a colonial marine who is dropped into the middle of an invading army of bugs with only your jetpack and some heat-seekers for company.
This slightly unoriginal plot makes for some brilliant fun, however. The graphics are brilliantly detailed, and are incredible with a 3dfx card, and the orchestral soundtrack would be worthy of any epic game you care to mention. In how many games can you jetpack over the crashed wreck of an enormous crashed space cruiser, lock on to a group of giant mutant bugs, and blow them into a spray of green blood before opening your glider and hunting down the next group?
There is also the multiplayer mode which allows for some brilliantly inventive play modes such as Smear The Cyborg, along with classics like Capture The Flag. If you want a game with a lot of action, great graphics and an intriguing story, along with a highly competitive multiplayer, then Outwars is the game for you.
