Nick Goldsworthy, Bullfrog

Nick Goldsworthy is the producer of Dungeon Keeper 2 for Bullfrog. He's previously worked on FIFA, Theme Park, Privateer 2, Beast & Bumpkins and Dark Omen. What a guy.

FG: Played any good games lately?
NG:
Alpha Centauri rocks, a little hard to get into at first but then you're addicted for life. Baldur's Gate kept me up for some late hours and Dungeon Keeper 2 multiplayer is way cool. But then I would say that.

FG: What do you think of Lara Croft?
NG:
Is she available ? (Hefty slap from wife). I'd like to see Lara and the Mistress, one of our original Dungeon Keeper characters, in a fight. I'm conjuring up those images already... hmmmm. Go Mistress! Go!

FG: What name or initials do you enter on high-score tables?
NG:
Usually NIK but if I'm really poor then I use DIV. Double Dragon and R-Type can usually be completed on one credit. Okay, boast mode off.

FG: What games systems do you have at home?
NG:
Ah ha, simply all of them. Vectrex, Intellivision, ZX81, Vic 20, Electron, C64, C128, QL... well, all of them except a Saturn. And, for the record, emulators can't compete with the nostalgia of imitation formica on the Atari 2600.

FG: If you could keep just one, which would it be?
NG:
Today it would be my N64 (the best multiplayer games on a console). A few years ago it would have been the PC Engine. The games are fab, I still play them.

FG: What's your favourite bit in Super Mario 64?
NG:
My best memory is having the first race with the giant Penguin. I remember thinking, "Wow! This game has class!"

FG: Who'd win in a fight, Sonic or Mario?
NG:
Hedgehog against the Mob, waddya reckon?

FG: Were games better in the "good old days"?
NG:
Single-player games I think, yes. Old 8bit classics were the best, especially the tunes - Hubbard & Whittaker, nobody writes 'em like they used to. Ooohhh Green Beret, Spy vs Spy...

FG: What's the most overrated game ever?
NG:
Tomb Raider.
