Dungeon Keeper 2
PC Release: July '99 From: EA

The Horned Reaper. Not to be trusted

The original Dungeon Keeper taught us how good it was to be bad and now EA are letting us horrible types indulge our wickedness in some more acts of evil. Oh joy...
Andy Smith

Revelling in wicked acts? Are you talking about my local MP?
Don't know him. But seriously, we gamers have been fed the hero line for far too long. At least EA give us the chance to be a little naughty. Sometimes it's nice to be bad. It's only a computer game after all.

True enough. So, DK2 then. More of the same?
Essentially yes. Improved, updated and added to. Dungeon Keeper puts the player back in charge of the baddies as a battle through 20 dungeons ensues. You and your boys are trying to break through to the real world and really mess it up.

Yeah? You'll never get past my heroes...
I surely will. I'll trap them. I'll capture them. I'll torture them and eventually turn them into skeletons so they can come and fight on my side. And I'll destroy any rival dungeon keepers I come across because in order to progress to the next dungeon I've got to collect this level's portal gem and summon the Horned Reaper to come and collect it.

No you won't. I'll just smash you to bits like I did in the first game.
You won't this time. The combat system's been re-vamped to include a more tactical skirmish element. You now drop your creatures into battle from a height and they're stunned for a while (the length of time depending, largely, on their bulk). There are also different classes of baddies with different fighting skills - flankers try their damnedest to get round the back of enemies and cause maximum damage while others prefer to stay at a distance and use ranged weapons.
