Furnish me with car facts...
There are more than 30 cars, each based on a real-life counterpart (no official licences, you see). Choose from a Porsche-alike, Ferrari-alike, Viper-alike (cunningly called the Venom) and many more. Alike. They all handle differently and have their own strengths (hurrah) and weaknesses (boo).

What about the tracks? Where do I get to prove my driving prowess?
Anywhere in the world... almost. There are ten tracks based in different countries - Hawaii, Les Gets (French Alps?), Las Vegas, New Zealand, Lisbon, Rome, Sydney, Zurich, Kyoto and Black Forest (the German region, not the disgusting gateaux for which it's renowned). Each track has three variations (like in Ridge Racer), plus mirror and reverse modes.

How about the various modes of play?
All the usual types are on offer - single race, championship, time trial, practice and two-player.

What does the championship entail?
There are two trophies up for grabs, the 'GT2' (hard as nails) and the 'GT1' (harder than nails). When you start you'll be approached by two teams. They'll offer you a car and the opportunity to drive for them. Unfortunately, the cars on offer are a bit poo (come on, you haven't proved yourself yet!), but the better teams will request your services once you've got a few decent results under your belt.

And the two-player mode...
... is splendid. Admittedly you lose a bit of background detail but the framerate remains surprisingly high, even in hi-res mode. You can almost hear the N64 groan under the strain.

* Incredible graphics without the need for an Expansion Pak
* Excellent two-player mode with computer drones
* Loads of cars and tracks give the game legs
* Too tough for the average casual gamer
* No two-player championship
