Strike a motorbike, guv'nor. When Electronic Arts get themselves a franchise they're like a bull terrier gnashing a rubber ring. Something like that, anyway...

Yawn... Go on then, what's new?
Ooh, hark at your enthusiasm!
Look, Road Rash was pretty good on the Mega Drive, but purlease...
Are you trying to say that the game hasn't 'developed' over the series?
Just a minute...
... don't we have these conversations the other way around?
That's better. Road Rash Unchained? Wot, no chains?
Given that violence has always been a prerequisite of Road Rash, you can expect a full complement of weapons. New moves have been added this time around, including combos. The bog standard kicking and punching remains (using the shoulder buttons) but if you catch the right sequence you can ensure a rival departs his saddle with a swish of a cosh (try saying that when you're sober!).
Sorry, but it still sounds like more of the same...
It is. It's Road Rash after all. What do you expect apart from motorcycles, violence and fairly unpleasant 'rawk' music? However, there are a couple of new multiplayer options for your delectation. Firstly, there's a two-player, split-screen, head-to-head mode that was missing from last year's Road Rash 3D. The other option is a motorbike and sidecar affair in which two players co-operate; one drives the bike and has a limited amount of kicking and punching manoeuvres, while the other is a complete nutter who attacks opponents from the relative comfort of the kneeling position.
