Originality, innovation and the attitude of major videogames companies are just some of the things Rob Wilson wants to get off his chest this week.

What do I wanna shout about then? Well, it's the state of the British gaming industry today. Personally, I feel that the British gaming public are being ripped off. I'm not talking about the prices, but rather the quality of games.

Yes, all right, we get the odd stunner, but the problem is we've seen it all before. I ask you the question, when was the last time an innovative, highly original game was released on a console? Okay, you may answer Zelda or Metal Gear Solid, but is two games over a six month period good enough? I don't think so.

The thing that really gets me is the way some people will buy the same game with a few refinements and better graphics year after year, and this just encourages publishers to release yet more shite - yes EA (FIFA) and Core (Tomb Raider), I'm talking to you.

The British gaming public have missed out on so many good, original games over the past year that it's impossible to mention them all. Final Fantasy Tactics, a game far greater than FF7 but never released over here; Xenogears, another top quality title never to see the light of day here; Brave Fencer Musashi and Parasite Eve. I know all these games are from Square and are RPGs, but I like them and loads of other people in the UK do too.
