Great Videogames Through The Ages
Hired Guns

Originally released for the Commodore Amiga in 1993 by Psygnosis, and written by top code shop DMA Design, Hired Guns found massive favour among gamers at the time.

Essentially a first-person action adventure game, Hired Guns involved co-ordinating the efforts of four characters, chosen from a pool of 12, through a series of increasingly difficult levels that were populated by baddies and some rather cunning puzzles.

The game was innovative in that four players could each take control of a character if you wished to, or if you were playing solo you could instruct characters to follow other characters and they would fend for themselves if they needed to. The gameplay itself was splendid and the levels were fabulously designed. Hired Guns also managed to be very atmospheric with splendid sound clues.

Hired Guns II is currently in development by Devil's Thumb Entertainment for the PC, using the Unreal engine. Like anyone who was a fan of the original, we wish Devil's Thumb every success in recapturing the style and playability of that first great game.
