While we all sit around waiting for someone to code Game Kid's Theme Festival, as suggested after his Glastonbury experiences, here's Take 2's latest addition to the resource management genre - Airport Inc.
Andy Smith
Airport Inc? Can I make some kind of ink gag here?
There's no such thing as a bad ink gag.
Oh very clever. Go on then, tell me about the game.
As the name suggests, Airport Inc concerns itself with the building and running of an international airport. The player has to decide where to build his port for aeroplanes and then get it up and running.
Sounds easy enough.
You haven't thought about it, have you? Here's a taste of what you'll have to set up and get running: baggage handling, security, runway maintenance, air traffic control, merchandise outlets, fast food restaurants, car parks and environmental issues. This is after you've built your airport.
Well at least that bit should be easy...
Not at all. You've got all manner of buildings to buy, place and equip. Consider the airport maintenance, fire station, police station, turnaround building, infirmary, administration building, cargo warehouses, hotels and, of course, the runways.
Jesus wept!
Exactly. Airport Inc is one of the most detailed resource management games we've played in a long time. Just equipping your main terminal building will take most of the morning.
