How does Warpath look?
Pretty damned good. If you seen either of the films you'll recognise the fight locations - Helipad, 76 Station, Paddock, Tribal Gate, Visitor Centre, Freighter Deck, et al. Of the 14 areas, eight can be accessed from the off while a further six have to be opened up through dextrous cunning. The same goes for the dinosaurs; you can choose eight at the start but the Carcharadontasaurus, Pachycephalosaurus and four others await your joypad.
Do the dinosaurs look realistic?
Have you ever seen one?
Erm, no. No-one has.
Well then. Nonetheless, they look pretty much like the ones in Steven Spielberg's garden. The developers Black Ops have used a new technique with one of Sony's toolkits to create incredibly realistic skin textures. This Hierarchical Modelling Data (HMD) has enabled them to construct each dinosaur out of some 750 polygons and the results are impressive. So are the lighting effects.
Is it bloody?
Too right. And here's the rub: Warpath is a game that will appeal to younger gamers but at the same time it's fearsomely violent. Jaws rip at necks and blood spurts furiously. The dinosaurs aren't exactly blessed with a plethora of manoeuvres, and so beat 'em up connoisseurs will more than likely turn their noses up.
My nephew will like it, then?
Probably.
He's 36...
Doh!
* Super visuals
* They look like dinosaurs
* Wealth of fighters and locations
* Lovely music score
* Not enough manoeuvres
