Mini-Review
|
| Power Quest |
| Game Boy Color |
From: Sunsoft |
This is a beat-'em-up with a difference. Instead of using his own fists to settle his playground arguments, the hero buys a pocket-sized, radio-controlled robot from the local toy shop and lets it fight his battles for him; much safer than risking real injury. In fact, everyone in the Power Quest world owns a robot, which they train, upgrade, and enter into tournaments to win cash prizes. It's an odd little game, and a little slow to get going, but it's surprisingly good once you've bought a few new moves and got into the link-up battle mode. A kind of robotic Pokémon crossed with Mortal Kombat.

| Klaxx |
| Game Boy Color |
From: Midway |
Since every Game Boy owner is more than competent at Tetris, it takes something a little special to tax Nintendo puzzle fans. This is the game to reduce 500-line champions to tears. The aim, as with most other puzzle games, is to match up three coloured blocks, but the fact that the blocks trundle towards you along a 3D table sets Klaxx apart from its peers. You can even flip the blocks back up the table, juggling them until you get them in the order you want. It's incredibly difficult, but it does make a nice change from all that Tetris.
