| Lego Racers |
| PC |
From: Lego Media |
This game is a new benchmark - all future racing games will be considered with Lego Racers in mind as it is perfectly average. It's not dreadful but it's no better than a dozen other so-so racers. Now Lego could argue that they're aiming the game at the kiddy market, but even so it's boringly average. The graphics are fine but not outstanding and the gameplay's uninspired. Just about the only thing bordering on the exciting is the ability to build your own car to race, and that's not terribly exciting after the first couple of goes. A truly average racing game - you can find many better.

A couple of neat ideas have been badly implemented in Expert Pool. You have to chalk your cue frequently in order to stop fluffing your shots but the problem is it takes too long to do. Grrr! There are a whopping 19 different types of pool to try out and it's not that difficult to make decent shots with little practice. The game feels and plays like it would have benefited from just a couple more months of playtesting. Although it's really not half bad, it doesn't really give Jimmy White's 2: Cueball a run for it's money. Better than average, but not outstanding.
