Dear Future Gamer
I think that handhelds are coming back in a big way. I remember the good old days when there were things such as the Atari Lynx and the Game Gear, but they seemed to die pretty quickly. I believed that they were damn good to play on at that point, with their colour, compared to the normal Game Boy, even though they were a bit chunky in size and gobbled batteries. It was quite quiet for a while, but then all of a sudden the colour thing has came back in a big way. They've also done away with the gobbling of batteries as the new Colour Game Boy does last quite a long time. The idea to link them in with bigger consoles is a good idea, which will make the games more interesting.
I'm more of a PC man myself, so I can't wait until they bring out better laptops, with the whole 3dfx thing in, that will be my portable games machine. I have seen a few with 3D cards but not with good 3dfx cards in yet.

The whole handhelds topic is hot at the moment, largely thanks to advances in technology that enable you to play up to 40 hours (in the case of the NeoGeo Pocket Color) on just a couple of batteries. I think we're still some way before we'll see laptops with Voodoo3 cards that can be powered for as long with just a couple of AA batteries. These advances never stop, though, and I'm sure there are some boffins on the case.
