Freedom is Fine

Dear Future Gamer

What on earth is Ian Massie blathering on about (FG54)? Some games are too hard because they have multiple routes? Well, don't play them then. People aren't legally obliged to purchase all games - you make your choice of games you like and allow for gameplay divergence.

I don't really understand his reasoning - too much of our game-playing time is thrown away by investigating where to go next? That is game-playing time. He just doesn't like the game, that's all.

I think I'm in the vast majority when I say that non-linear games are, at the very least, a very good idea if implemented properly. Modern games are all about increased in-game freedom as much as anything else.

FG: I've got to agree with you, David. Ian's moaning about games having more freedom and that being a waste of good game-playing time is, frankly, nonsense.
