| Destruction Derby Done Wrong |
Dear Future Gamer
I too am quite hooked on playing games the 'wrong way' (FG62). One of my favourites was Destruction Derby 2. There was one track in particular which had a very narrow pass at one point, and after many hours of practice I perfected a method of placing my car in such a manner as to block the pass. You'd have to time it just right by letting the bulk of the other cars through first and then blocking off the last two or three. It was then a race against time to beat them into submission, forming a really good road block, before the rest of the cars completed their first lap. At the same time you had to be careful not to sustain so much damage to your car that the race would end. Then, as the other cars approached, you would get into the best possible viewing position and watch the carnage begin. The remaining 10 or so cars would come screaming toward the road block, producing some of the most spectacular crash scenes, with cars being flung around, spinning miles into the air. Magnificent stuff.
Another favourite was wounding defenceless scientists in GoldenEye. You know the scene - they stand before you shaking, hands raised high, and the temptation to put a well-aimed bullet into a leg or arm was overwhelming. You'd then watch them hobble off bleeding while you laughed hysterically, wondering whether to put them out of their misery as they struggled at the door or whether to go on and complete the mission. Tough choice.

I'm beginning to regret starting this topic of conversation as I'm starting to doubt the sanity of some of our readers. Still, it's all good clean fun, eh?
