Dear Future Gamer
Choosing a game is a lot like choosing a girlfriend - you need it to look good if you're going to be attracted to it in the first place. This is why graphics and marketing are so important, as it's first impressions that count. This is why FIFA is so successful, even though the gameplay is relatively poor. However, if you're prepared to take a risk on an ugly bird/2D game, the gameplay may be much more rewarding than the graphics suggest (mushn't gwumble). If you're prepared to overcome this initial barrier, unbelievably good games lie underneath. The Game Boy is a perfect example of this and just think how good many of the Game Boy games are, especially the Nintendo ones.
I've seen recently that some developers are trying to "go 3D" on the Game Boy. I'm sure these games will sell bucketloads purely because of this, but if the gameplay isn't good enough, it's back to the shop and money back, thank you very much. This is another factor. If a game doesn't have long-term gameplay appeal, it's now more than likely that you can get a return at most shops (but not Dixons, so watch out! Ha ha, all you Dixons people). So, if a game doesn't impress when you get it home, it won't sell very well.

It's an interesting comparison Ben, but will a game let you put your hand up its jumper? I think not.
