| Rollcage Stage II |
| PC |
Release: May |
From: Take 2 |

Despite good reviews, Psygnosis' own Wipeout on wheels, Rollcage, didn't perform magnificently at retail, but they're hoping to change all that with the imminent release of Rollcage Stage II.

Rollcage was quite a laugh. I enjoyed it.
So did we, on the PlayStation anyway. We gave the game a score of 90 per cent!
Yeah, but it was ideally suited to consoles. What about the PC version?
We didn't actually review that but we still thought it was a good game.
Enough with the history lesson. What's Rollcage Stage II all about?
Improvement, essentially. Let's start with the one-player game, shall we?
If you must.
The original game had a simple league system - you raced, you got points. RSII now has five leagues for you to work your way up through. In addition, there's the straight Arcade mode, Time Attack, Scramble (get from the start to the finish in a set time) and Survivor (complete the league and then race each track in order but you can only progress if you win each race). That's not to mention Demolition (destroy all the track's destructible objects in the fastest possible time) and the All Tracks mode (drive one track from each of the game's 20 league tracks with only the total time being counted).
Blimey! That's loads! What's in the multiplayer game?
Again, there's a whole host of stuff to go head to head in: Single race (speaks for itself), Tournament (choose to race 3, 5, 7 or 9 races on randomly selected tracks), Time Attack (both racing at the same time with no collision detection between the two cars) and Pursuit (like they do on cycle tracks where the players start half a lap apart and the idea is to catch and overtake the other driver). For the more bloodthirsty, there's Demolition (you attempt to smash more stuff than your opponent), Combat (now using a points system, each player attempts to hit their opponent as often as possible) and Rubble Soccer (footy with a lump of rock).
