Team TOCA have moved up a gear with their new thrills and spills racer: it has everything - with bits falling off...

Save your breath, mate. I already know what this game's going to be like. It's going to look lush, have more options than you can throw a spanner at and drive like a mini on an ice rink.
Ooo-oooh! Hark at Mr Nelly Know-all! You won't be interested to hear that WTC isn't a TOCA clone at all then.
Oh no?
Billed as an all-new game, with a new engine built specially for PlayStation, WTC Touring Cars isn't a TOCA 3. While we've only driven three of the game's 23 circuits, we've been having great fun with it. You're right when you say the two TOCAs were tricky to handle, but WTC has a distinctly more driver-friendly feel. It's a lot more exciting too.
My engine's positively revving with pleasure. It's not too difficult, you say?
These cars are a lot less hell bent on finishing in the hedgerows than the TOCA lot. In fact, they're highly driveable little buggers. You can slew and drift nicely round corners and elbow your way aggressively round the tracks, almost rally-style. The field of 16 very competitive AI cars in every race also makes for crowded, late-breaking, super-charged action.
Touring cars have suddenly become fun, it seems.
They have. In fact, our only gripe was that the preview code we received wouldn't allow us to make pit stops. Apparently, during these you can hear the voices of the crew and everything. Mind you, we did enjoy smashing up a few vehicles to check out the damage effects, as well as using the cockpit view to see the drivers thump the steering wheel or shake their fists when they come off the track.
