Between the sheets with the gaming press...

Trade paper MCV leads with news that GT Interactive could be planning to re-publish old games at prices as low as £1.99. GT’s budget arm One Stop haven’t confirmed the move yet, but with successful budget brands such as Replay and Sold Out selling well, we can expect super cheap games in the shops soon. Maybe.

MCV also reports that Nintendo distributor THE Games are introducing a number of budget N64 games. Lamborghini, Cruisin’ USA, Blast Corps and Pilot Wings (among others) will retail at £19.99. The best footie game in the world, Gremlin’s Actua Soccer 3, has been reduced in price to £30. Just thought we’d mention it.

Meanwhile, CTW predicts that Sony will make their first announcement regarding PlayStation 2 to the publishing community next month. Will a prototype of the machine be unveiled on March 2? Who knows? Ken Kutaragi, probably.

CTW also leads with news that Sega’s Dreamcast is expected to launch in Europe and America on September 9, although this date is unconfirmed. Some pundits have predicted an earlier launch, and having just seen Sega Rally 2, Future Gamer is finally warming to the little fellow.
