Both the weekly trade papers lead with the Interplay/Virgin deal. Interplay have taken a stake in Virgin and they have agreed reciprocal publishing deals in Europe and the US.
MCV (Market for Home Computing & Videogames) details some of the titles we can expect to see from the new super-publisher in the coming months. Highlights include Bloody Roar 2 (PlayStation), Resident Evil (Game Boy Color) and Star Trek: New Worlds (PC).
CTW (Computer Trade Weekly) reports that a new adult-orientated videogames TV show Bits could hit Channel Four in the next few months. Targeted at 18-35 year-olds, the show would appear in a post-pub slot, with the emphasis on reviews and previews. Production company Ideal World have yet to receive Channels Four’s approval, though.
In games magazine land (old fashioned paper sorts), Psygnosis’ new racer Rollcage seems to be the game that everyone’s talking about. It features on the cover of PlayStation Power and C&VG (it was on Official PlayStation a couple of months ago) and scores 94 per cent and 4/5 respectively. A fun game, wethinks. But it’s way behind the Dreamcast’s Sega Rally 2 in the visual stakes.
