Between the sheets with the gaming press...

LucasArts' forthcoming Star Wars games are hogging the headlines in the two weekly trade papers this week. CTW devotes the lion's share of its front page to news that Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace will be released on PC and PlayStation in May.

MCV takes a slightly different spin on the news, concluding that the game's simultaneous global release will discourage grey importing and piracy, and maximise the title's potential in all territories.

Also front page news this week is Infogrames' acquisition of Gremlin. The French giants are set to purchase a major percentage of the Sheffield company's shares, and gain control of Gremlin's high profile sports titles. The future of Gremlin's DMA Design studios has yet to be resolved.

CTW also reports that Sony have achieved an installed base of four million PlayStations in the UK. Sony are predicting that the next 12 months will be even bigger, thanks to a £3.5 million Easter marketing blitz.

Finally, in an irregular series of videogame magazine awards, Future Gamer presents:
