| Requiem: Avenging Angels (PC) |
Sure, it's another first-person shoot 'em up. And it's hardly the best of its genre when it comes to multiplayer action. However, it's in the angelic powers department that Avenging Angels stands out from the pack. You don't just pick up the odd gun here. No sir. Instead, you can boil the blood of monsters, summon plagues of locusts and even pepper foe by turning them into salt.
Another cool aspect is the 'Warp' time in which you can slow the whole shebang down, then creep up behind someone and do really bad things. The slow-mo effects are great too, when someone bites the big one. Oh, and you can raise the dead to form an army and even mess with the enemies' minds to turn them against one another. Nice. At its heart though, Requiem is a good, old-fashioned blaster and particularly solid in its one-player guise.
