ELSPA Nonsense

Dear Future Gamer

Since ELSPA are a cartel who keep the magazines and distributors onside by saying 'do what we say or we won't advertise/give you our products', I would do anything possible to irritate them. News is that an insider tipped off the government about them. In France, as a retailer you can get a game for less than half the price, and this is highly illegal.

David

FG: Sorry David, I don't follow your letter at all. ELSPA aren't a cartel and have absolutely no influence over magazines or distributors receiving games from publishers. They're merely a trade body set up to further the causes of software publishers across Europe, and this means setting up things like a self-regulated classification scheme so that government bodies don't have to, so I don't see why any government needs 'tipping off' about them. As for French retailers getting cheaper games and this being an illegal practice, I haven't got a clue what you mean.
