| Sensible Soccer |
Possibly the only game title to make both the Great Videogames and Worst Videogames lists, Sensible Soccer on the PlayStation well deserves its place here.
Developed by Sensible Software, Sensi Soccer was the definitive football game on the Amiga. It took the crown from the mighty Kick Off and never returned it. The gameplay was superb and sublime and so it wasn't surprising that it was updated for the PlayStation. What was shocking was just how badly done it was. Sensible Software played no part in the conversion and the result was a game with all the gameplay taken out and that jerked all over the place. It was essentially reduced to something worse than a reader's Yaroze game (one of which, Total Soccer, appeared on the cover of the Official UK PlayStation Magazine and really was better than this 'professional' attempt at a football game).
Thankfully, Sensible's Jon Hare is now at Codemasters and the latest rumours to come from the Warwickshire outfit are that they're currently working on a new Sensi Soccer game. Under Jon's tutelage, we at Future Gamer are sure the game's good name will be restored. Until then, we're just going to remember the Amiga versions of Sensi and forget this one ever appeared.
