"What do you mean?" asked George?
"It was only recently it happened - during that period when he was playing a lot of Civilization II," said Arthur. "You knew how he was: nobody ever saw him when he was into a game like that - particularly not Betty - so we thought, well, that we'd never get caught. We even bought in a load of new releases to keep him busy. Only one day he got back early from 'the office' after completing some bloody game in record bloody time and he found us together. He didn't seem to mind at the time, though. He just said, 'Alright, mate,' grabbed another disk and left. But you see, it must have been me. It was my fault."
After a while, George broke the stillness. "I don't think it was all your fault, mate. I think I might have had something to do with it too."
"How?" asked Arthur, looking up.
"Well, to put it bluntly, I beat him at ISS Evolution."
"You did what?"
"I stuffed him 5-0."
Arthur whistled. "5-0, eh? Phew! That would do it. That would really push him over the edge. He wouldn't have been able to take that. 5-0! I feel better already. Thanks, mate."
"Yeah, well, I thought I'd better tell you - it's no good torturing yourself over nothing. Anyway, get me another pint in, will you?I need a piss."
"Do you need a hand, mate?"
"No, that's all right - I've got my white stick here somewhere."
