Mini-Review
|
| Spy Hunter/Moon Patrol |
| Game Boy Color |
From: Midway |
Having already given us the fantastic combination of Joust and Defender on one cartridge, Midway's Arcade Classics series has turned up another winning combination with Spy Hunter and Moon Patrol. Both titles are variations on the driving/shooting theme, with Spy Hunter taking the bird's eye view approach and Moon Patrol throwing in some sideways scrolling and jumping. They're both very accurate conversions, with Spy Hunter's high speed car chases along increasingly hazardous roads offering more thrills than Moon Patrol's mixture of aliens and potholes. The only things missing are a few fag burns on the screen and a crowd of sickly-looking youths staring over your shoulder as you play.

| Antz |
| Game Boy Color |
From: Infogrames |
Infogrames have made quite a name for themselves on the Game Boy, churning out a seemingly endless series of platform games which, while not exactly ground-breaking, can usually be relied upon to provide a decent bit of portable entertainment. Antz is the latest title from the production line and it's pretty much exactly what we expected. Slick graphics combine with fairly routine platform puzzles and exploration in a game that has little to do with the film it's supposedly based on. It's a lot better than most platforming-by-numbers efforts, but check out Infogrames' excellent Looney Tunes games before spending your money on Antz. They're far better.
