| Getting a Job at ECTS page 3 of 3 |
Day 3. As I tend to do, I left things until the end, but there was still plenty of time so it was off for another wander before I got down to business. It wasn't my fault - there were just too many other things to do! After eventually prying myself away from the many TV screens dotted about the place and actually visiting a couple of the stands, I discovered that they were basically just looking to register new clients and so I didn't get much information. When I approached the man at the Datascope Recruitment stand, the conversation was rather brief. I told him that I was looking for a job in testing. He asked me what I was doing at the moment and where I was based, and then said I should send them a CV. At this point I produced one of my CVs and handed it over. He filed it away and gave me the leaflet of CV and interview tips and that was about it.
At the OPM stand it was a similar story, except they had a form to fill in, to accompany your CV, asking for details of what you were looking for and other relevant bits of information. Having established that I probably wasn't going to be any better off than if I registered online, I decided to waste the remaining few hours and then register with all the other agencies online at a later date.
Though I've since registered with several more agencies over the net, I haven't as yet heard any news. It's early days though, and I'm looking for a job away from London, which makes it harder.
As far as looking for a job goes, ECTS wasn't much of a success, but that was probably more because I failed to get organised. Overall, it was a good experience. There's a wealth of fun to be had and games to be played, and if you get yourself organised you might even be able to get a job out of it!
