Dear Future Gamer
The X Box is not a PC, so all that stuff about service packs and upgrades is irrelevant. X Box is about stopping the likes of Sony and Nintendo running away with low cost net access at the consumer level, with non-Microsoft operating systems and net services. Sega using a Microsoft OS was obviously not enough and would not put Microsoft in the driving position of this new market. If X Box didn't exist then Microsoft could have missed the boat on low cost consumer Internet devices. I hope it's a real success.

I think you could have something here Andrew, but then again, if Microsoft just want to get into the low cost net access market, why not devise a simple box that enables you to do just that - forget the game-playing stuff and just go for a net-only device? Your thoughts please people...
