Baldur's Gate Confirmed for PlayStation

Interplay's wonderfully deep PC RPG comes to PlayStation

In an attempt to cash in on the success of the PlayStation's wonderfully developed RPG market, Interplay are bringing their excellent PC RPG Baldur's Gate console-side.

"It's coming," said an Interplay spokesperson. "It's not officially announced, of course, but we're starting to work on it."

According to FGNOnline, the game is due for release in Q1 (January-March) 2000, January in England, and possibly earlier in the US. But the way Interplay discussed it, the game is still very early in development.

"There's really nothing to see just yet - it's very early," continued the spokesperson. "There are no real details to see right now."

Originally developed by BioWare, a Canadian development team, Interplay have gone to RuneCraft Ltd, an English developer, to make the PlayStation game. Although not yet known, the game is likely to be a direct port of the PC version.
