The First Lady of Chomp

The unmarried, pellet-gobbling, mouth-only superstar will have an N64 game of her own

Just a few weeks ago, Namco were very excited to announce Namco Museum 64, their first game for Nintendo 64. Now it seems that Namco have had some other plans for the console in the works for quite some time. A PlayStation and N64 game from Namco Hometek called Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness has been approved by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). While Namco haven't confirmed the existence of the N64 product, logic suggests that neither organisation, the ESRB nor Namco, would go through the process of rating a game for the benefit of consumers if it didn't exist.

Maze Madness won't be Ms Pac-Man's first appearance on the N64 since her eponymous classic arcade game will be included, along with the original Pac-Man game, in Namco Museum. There's no other information available as to what kind of game Maze Madness will be, but it's probably along the lines of the recent Pac-Man World 20th Anniversary for PlayStation.

Beyond bringing another videogame superstar of the 1980s to the age of 3D gaming, an original game from Namco for the N64 suggests a warming trend in the cold war between Nintendo and the company that created the Tekken series. Namco have been one of the key third-party game makers for the PlayStation.
