Here's a new feature for Future Gamer. They are exactly like our normal reviews, but one-eighth the size. We shall call them... Mini-Reviews...

Roland Garros Championship Tennis 1999 |
PC |
From: GT Value |
Cynics can be forgiven for assuming that any game being released on PC at a mere £15 is bound to be pap, but they'd be wrong. This tennis game, for example, is a bit of a cracker. The controls are console-easy, with all the usual lobs, backhands and forehands readily doable, and that's the best part of the game. It looks alright but isn't as polished as it might be, but it's a great deal of fun to play. The Championship mode allows you to climb the international ranks through winning tournaments so there's some longevity to boot. A smashing (ouch) game and well worth the price of six or seven pints.

And to completely undo everything said in the intro for the Roland Garros review, here's a £15 game that's mere pap. It's a gangster game in which you're attempting to work your way up the underworld ladder through various nefarious acts, but it's dreadful to play. The interface is clumsy and awkward and the game moves so slowly you'll be tearing your hair out sooner rather than later. A badly produced piece of software that does nothing for GT's new Value label except show what a bargain Roland Garros Championship Tennis 1999 really is. Avoid.
