Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation |
PlayStation |
Release: November 22 |
From: Eidos |

Hurrah! Lara's back, again. This time round she's learnt a few new tricks and you get to see her as an adolescent, but is that really enough to justify splashing out another 40 quid?

Well, is it really the last one?
Not likely, especially considering the fact that PlayStation2 is around the corner. Eidos are far too shrewd to miss that opportunity. With all that power they could make Lara look almost real, roping in another generation of horny teens.
Let's hope the nude cheat works then!
In your dreams. The whole Tomb Raider phenomenon is rather bizarre - if you want pornography go out and buy a magazine, preferably the Nell McAndrew edition of Playboy. While the series was no doubt helped by Lara's well-toned physique, the games have always been top-notch.
Except the last one. That was way too hard.
It was a bit. With Last Revelation Core have tried to go back to their roots and provide a perfect blend of puzzles and action. That's what made Tomb Raider so big at first; the obsession with Lara came after. The second game was definitely a worthy sequel, while the third simply added a couple of new tricks, like the ability to crawl (wow!), and ditched the puzzle element in favour of fiendishly unforgiving traps. Many die-hard fans felt cheated, and rightly so.
So this one's different. How?
It actually feels more like the original. It's one of those 'X-Factor' things - it feels right, but you don't really know why. Heck, if we knew we'd be programming the games ourselves and raking it in. Apart from that, Lara has a few new abilities - she can now pick her nose and fart.
Really?
No. Lara has two new tricks - she can climb ropes and slide down poles. Expect quite a few puzzles involving these skills. And there's more...
