The Game Boy Color version of Grand Theft Auto has been given a 15+ rating by the Video Standards Council (VSC), despite being toned down in order to avoid just that. Take 2, the game's publisher, appealed against the ruling, stating that the VSC should not have taken the overall theme - stealing cars - into account. As a result, the VSC are distributing new ratings forms to all ELSPA members, informing them that the overall theme will be taken into account when they decide upon an age rating. Bad luck, Take 2 - it's always worth a try.
Rumour has it that Rage Software bosses Paul Finnegan and John Roberts are poised to buy a controlling share in Everton football club. Lifelong Toffees fan Finnegan has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours, telling CTW, "I'm 44 years old and time's running out for me to become a professional footballer." We reckon he'd slot in nicely at the back between Dave Watson and Richard Gough, though.
Defunct '80s developers System 3 are to make a phoenix-like comeback under the new moniker Studio 3. Well, De La Soul did say that it was a magic number. Remakes of many of their hit games are in the pipeline, including the brilliant The Last Ninja. The Last Ninja: The Return is a complete reworking of the Commodore 64 original for PlayStation2, although no release date is known as yet. System 3's comeback will be marked in earnest early next year with a Game Boy version of the classic International Karate.
