Sonic Shifts at Pace

New hedgehog title is Europe's best seller

Sonic Adventure has sold more than 86,000 copies since Dreamcast launched on October 14. It went straight to the summit of Chart-Track Weekly's top 40, and seven other Dreamcast titles entered the top 20 for the chart dated October 16. The second most popular title was Sega Rally 2.

"Sonic clearly is the evergreen title leading the launch software line-up, which is the best the industry has ever seen, and we have even more special games coming out between now and Christmas," said Jean-François Cecillon, Chief Executive Officer of Sega Europe. "Sales have beaten all expectations, confirming the belief that the consumer and games developing community have in Dreamcast. Dreamcast is an evolutionary console that adapts to the changing needs of the consumer. The public want to be a part of that evolutionary process."

Sega also reckon they've sold 145,000 Visual Memory units across Europe.
