Congratulations - you've launched a console
Sony have praised Sega for the success of the Dreamcast launch. While Dreamcast's massive sales have inevitably had an effect on PlayStation, Sony UK's Ray Macguire reckons it's a Good Thing for the games industry. Dreamcast has massively outperformed both PlayStation and N64 in terms of its launch sales, although it did come in £100 cheaper.
"It is really good news for all of us in the games business that the early adopters are out there, and this leads us to expect a record-breaking PlayStation 2 launch next year," Maguire told trade paper MCV. "It is encouraging for us from that point of view. It also adds something to the marketplace after five years of relentless PlayStation domination."
Blimey, will Alex Ferguson say that if Leeds or Chelsea win the league?
