Realism in Games

Dear Future Gamer

I'm writing to complain about realism in games. Not that zombies and mutant dogs don't exist, but neither do magic and monsters. After playing a demo of Dino Crisis, it made me realise that game producers miss the basics in realism out. For instance, on the Dino Crisis demo I was happily solving puzzles and killing raptors when I was launched into a cutscene and saw a T-Rex breathing in my face. Oh well, I think to myself, Regina is standing perfectly still so that T-Rex won't see me. I was wrong. It knocked some crates at me and made me fly back before chasing and eating me.

In football games like FIFA and ISS, why the hell can't the goalkeeper foul, like in real life? In Codemasters' LMA Manager (and this must be the only fault in the whole game) one of my men picked up an injury, got up and sprinted off. I checked what the injury was and, to my horror, it was a broken leg - out for seven months. I just think that game producers should pay more attention to detail to make the game a lot better.

FG: Hell's teeth, Thomas! You don't want much, do you? These are GAMES! GAMES, I SAY! You can't really fly a spaceship faster than the speed of light but does that matter if you're enjoying the game?
