Mr Nutz |
Game Boy Color |
From: Infogrames |
It's hard to tell him apart from Rare's Conker (discounting the fact that Conker's game is actually pretty good), but Mr Nutz was around long before anyone in Twycross started messing around with bug-eyed squirrels. He's also one of those forgettable characters that lacks the personality to lift a game like this from the mire of mediocrity, and it's hard to see why he's been resurrected on the Game Boy Color. The levels are short and dull, there are hardly any moves to speak of and there are hundreds of better platform games available, even in the kiddie section of the market that Mr Nutz is aimed at. Don't bother.

Supreme Snowboarding |
Game Boy Color |
From: Infogrames |
To be fair, there aren't many handheld winter sports games around on Game Boy Color, so Supreme Snowboarding has a whole niche to itself - number one in a field of one. Of course it's no 1080°, but it does a tidy job of simulating a 3D mountainside using sprites of varying sizes, and it's surprisingly smooth to control. You can race through a series of slalom courses, with a single computer opponent offering a token challenge, or you can attempt to pull off 20 different tricks by leaping off moguls and twitching a bit. The longer you hold your airborne pose, the more points you score. It's a little basic, but very playable.
