Dear Future Gamer
I have recently witnessed Sony's PlayStation2 at first hand. It's an impressive looking piece of kit and no mistake. Having said that, I was a little disappointed with the visual quality of both Ridge Racer V and Gran Turismo 2000 - although the latter was only a demo.
So, what's my point? The point is that I am from Yorkshire, not Lancashire. My other point is that the expectation surrounding PS2 is so high, there is inevitably going to be dissatisfaction in certain quarters. The casual gaming masses that bought into PlayStation do not all possess the discerning eyes of you journo types and may miss the subtle visual upgrades. Because the changes ARE subtle, rather than gob-smackingly dramatic.
The simple truth is that the 'next next generation' machines are probably not going to kick us in the knackers with quite the force we'd hoped. Still, Sony will sell shitloads of the things nonetheless. I know I'm going to get one.
Steve Bradley
FG:
You're absolutely right Steve. You are from Yorkshire.
