| We've mostly been having some... |
The PC version of Need For Speed - Porsche Unleashed hit the office this week, much to everyone's delight. The NFS series has always been held in high esteem at Future Gamer, but the new one, in the carefully measured words of our chief news hound Andy Ashwin, is "fucking brilliant".
It really does live up to its description, too. You race with all Porsche's line-up of models from the 1950s onwards, and boy, crumple effects and all, do they look beautiful. The streets you race though look equally gorgeous.
Also new in at the Gamer office this week was a demo version of CDV's PC war game Sudden Strike, and, "It's everything Close Combat 4 should have been," according to Andy Smith, who's showing every sign of settling down for the rest of the year with it.
Elsewhere in the Gamer Office, Mark has well and truly set out his stall as King of ISS. Beating all comers regularly, to the cry of "Have some!", he's becoming a right pain in the arse, frankly - especially because, as Gideon 'Chopper' Kibblewhite always points out after one of his daily humiliations, "It's shit game anyway."
If they would only bring back Actua... then he'll really know what it's like to 'have some'. In fact, he'd get well and truly 'upped'. But alas, that now seems most unlikely, for there is, you see, no justice in the world.
