The creature AI is sublime: some will create ambushes and wounded creatures will run and even fight amongst themselves in a very lifelike fashion. The interaction between the invading parasites and the indigenous creatures is also impressive. Evolva contains a lot of scripted events, not necessarily to advance the storyline but just to make it seem like other things are happening in the world around you. Events range from quick rock falls to the cinematic galloping herds of parasite creatures, feeling like a scene from Starship Troopers. The scripting doesn't get in the way of the game though. Legging it off to study the herd close up will get you involved in a big fight, just the way it should be.
The graphics engine needed to pull off such a stunt obviously needs to be impressive and Evolva's is just that. Presented from a 3D person viewpoint, the planet's surface is suitably alien and organic. Some of the views from the game are simply breathtaking.
There's something for everyone in Evolva, from fights, shooting and puzzles all the way through to strategy. It seems that almost every genre has been melded together and it works superbly.
