Game Kid
|
| He's game and he's the kiddie… |
This week Game Kid takes his PlayStation along to The Antiques Roadshow.
"This week we're in the beautiful Georgian town of Bath, world famous for its beautiful, soon-to-be-restored Roman Baths and justly renowned for its fine period architecture, designed by the likes of John Wood. And now, without further ado, let us join our experts and find out what wonderful treasures the people of Bath have brought along with them..."
Hugh Scully: "Now then, what have we got here? It looks very much to me like a splendid collection of PlayStation games... remarkable. Tell me, what do know about their history? Have they been in the family long?"
Game Kid: "A few years, some of them. I've been collecting them myself, actually. That copy of Tomb Raider I got when I bought the machine itself."
HS: "Oh that is wonderful! How splendid! And I see you've brought your PlayStation along too. How long ago was it that you bought it?"
GK: "It was last year, actually."
HS: "Was it really? Oh my. And how much did you pay for it, do you mind my asking?"
GK: "Not at all. I got it in a sale; I believe I paid for £99.99 for it."
HS: "Oh my, that really is splendid! Let's have a look at some of the games you've brought with you then, shall we? Which is your favourite?"
GK: "I suppose I would to have to say the Actua Soccer 3."
HS: "Ah yes; a fine choice: an absolutely splendid 3D football simulation. Produced around about the turn of this century, maybe even as late as 1999, its now generally regarded as one of the finest, if not the best, examples of the genre. Among its features we can point out the solid quality polygon graphics and beautiful motion-capture, fast, realistic gameplay, as well as this simply wonderful commentary from Barry (Interesting!) Davis. And look at this marvellous, expert analysis by Martin O' Neil. Simply wonderful."
