Dear Future Gamer,
When you consider that the videogames industry is reported to be bigger than and make more money in a year than Hollywood, why is it that events like E3 get totally overlooked by the general media?
The Cannes film festival is on almost every time you turn on the TV at the moment, even on programmes like The Big Breakfast. I think it is totally outrageous that since the death of GamesMaster we have had no major TV coverage (with the exception of the excellent Cybernet - and that's on far too late to attract the audience it deserves).
There is a massive void that needs to be filled by a good games programme, just bringing Cybernet forward to a 6/7pm slot would be sufficient. I think that the media in general still regard computer games as things for geeks that are too specialised for mainstream TV, although they rave about the Internet no end.
Something really needs to be done about this ignorance within the media, and I think that publications like FG, who have more power than individuals, should band together and start a massive campaign to get more recognition in society. It's what we all want and deserve.

FG:
Games are terribly difficult to get across on TV, mainly because they're such a solitary pursuit and it's impossible to broadcast the addiction of a game like Half-Life. There's a new Channel 4 games show due to start next week, called Bits. Tune into that, hopefully it will fill the GamesMaster void.
