Dear Future Gamer,
Chris Causer and Sean Baggaley (FG26 & 27 respectively) and probably a few other people would like explanations for techie words, whereas you don't want to be too technical. But gamers don't need a 5,000 word essay about a technical term - when one appears in an article you could simply link it to a 'technobabble' section in Gamer Life with a few sentences about it.
For example:
NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline). NURBS define objects as curves in space. You have a starting point and an ending point to a curve and a few points in between to define the shape of the curve. They look prettier and can do organic models (ie. humans) better than polygons but are more hassle to work with.
See? That wasn't so painful...

FG:
I like the idea but wonder how far to take this. Terms like NURBS (thanks for the explanation by the way) are necessary, but where do we draw the line? Do PC owners need to be told what a Dual Shock joypad is? Do PlayStation owners need to know about ping and lag times? Do N64 owners know what DVD is? Okay, so I'm exaggerating for effect, but you get the picture. If some propeller-head out there fancies tackling this I'd be very happy to consider its permanent inclusion on the website. We could update and maintain it but we can't spare the time to actually get the database of technical terms started. Get to it people!
