Bits Cut Down to Size

Dear Future Gamer

I'm just reading through FG34, another great issue by the way, and I've just come across the letter concerning the programme Bits on Channel 4. I have to admit, it's terrible. They review games with clichés and seem to know nothing about them. It really annoyed me when they did a preview of Braveheart. The presenter (the one with pig-tails) just sat there, smiling, looking pretty (which she wasn't), while the guy she was interviewing talked about the game's AI, the graphics, the management and so on. The only question she asked, apart from 'Tell us about the game,' was "With all these beautiful camera angles can we zoom in and look up the Scotsmen's kilts when it's windy?", and that was it.

For the Dungeon Keeper 2 interview they had the lead developer in a medieval-type holding device, and some woman dressed as a Mistress whipped him throughout the interview, making him seem very worried and frustrated. He talked about the game and she (the same woman) did nothing. Crap.

Finally, for this email anyway, the blond one reviewed Pod Racer on the PC, which is a stunning game. She complimented the graphics but completely dissed the game, saying it was crap because, "You have to rely on driving skill and the condition of your pod to win," and "There are no weapons." Obviously she missed the point of Racer, and indeed racing games in general.

FG: It seems as if Bits is finding it hard to win followers. I wonder if anyone from the programme would like to defend it?
