Hans Arno Wegner

Hans is a lead designer at Software 2000, and he's currently working on Pizza Syndicate, a game in which you have to run a fiendish dough-with-toppings business. Imagine Theme Park but with pizza shops and you're getting there...

What games are tickling your fancy at the moment? Why?
At the moment there are only a few action games that are fascinating me: Quake 3 Arena from ID for being the best multiplayer shooting game; Midtown Madness from Microsoft because now I can finally race through the streets like I've always wanted to; Outcast from Infogrames for its fascinating gameplay, although the hardware requirements are really only for the next computer generation; and, of course, Pizza Syndicate, which we are currently working on here and will be out in the UK in September.

What was the first computer game you ever played? Any good?
Wow, that is a long time ago. The first computer game I played on my own system was Populous for the Atari ST. It's a great game and an excellent concept. I was most impressed by the world full of 'living' people, who carried on with their lives independently of the game. You'll see that the world in Pizza Syndicate works in a similar fashion, with individuals who live independently and with unique behaviour patterns and opinions.
